Privacy Policy

Last updated August 20, 2026.

Focus Pet is designed to be a local-first focus and productivity application. This Privacy Policy explains what information Focus Pet processes, what information may be stored or synchronized, and how third-party services are used.

Information We Collect and Process

The information Focus Pet processes depends on the features you choose to use.

Account Information

Creating an account is optional. If you create a Focus Pet account, we may process information such as:

  • your email address;
  • authentication information necessary to sign you in and maintain your account;
  • account and session information necessary to keep your account signed in securely;
  • a device identifier used to manage Focus Pet's single-active-device account system.

You can use Focus Pet in guest mode without creating an account. Guest mode does not use cloud backup.

Focus and Productivity Information

During a focus session, Focus Pet may process information such as:

  • the active application and its application identifier;
  • the active website domain when using a supported browser;
  • your allowed and blocked applications;
  • your allowed and blocked website domains;
  • focus-session duration and completion status;
  • distraction and restricted-event counts;
  • focus mode and related session settings;
  • rewards, streaks, and focus statistics derived from your sessions.

This information is used to determine whether your current activity matches the focus rules you selected and to provide Focus Pet's focus-session, reward, statistics, and Deep Focus features.

How Application and Website Detection Works

Focus Pet needs to determine which application is currently active while a focus session is running.

On supported browsers, Focus Pet may also determine the domain of the website currently active in the browser so that website Allow Lists and Block Lists can work.

Depending on your operating system, Focus Pet uses operating-system functionality such as Windows application APIs or macOS Accessibility APIs to perform this detection.

Focus Pet does not use this functionality to read or collect:

  • the contents of your files or documents;
  • the contents of webpages;
  • text you enter into applications or websites;
  • passwords or other personal credentials;
  • private messages;
  • keystrokes;
  • screenshots;
  • screen recordings.

Focus Pet's website rules operate on domains rather than storing full browsing URLs. For example, Focus Pet may use youtube.com to evaluate a website rule rather than storing the full page URL you visited.

Application and website detection is used for Focus Pet's focus features and is not intended to create a general browsing or computer-activity history.

Local Storage

Focus Pet is designed to work locally on your computer, including in guest mode.

Application data may be stored locally using Focus Pet's local database and other local application storage. Depending on the features you use, locally stored information may include:

  • game progress and currencies;
  • streaks and focus statistics;
  • completed focus-session information;
  • pets and selected skins;
  • inventory and decorations;
  • backyard configuration;
  • focus settings;
  • allowed and blocked applications;
  • allowed and blocked website domains;
  • Focus Pro entitlement information cached for offline use;
  • other settings required for application functionality.

Cloud Backup and Accounts

If you choose to create and use a Focus Pet account, Focus Pet can back up supported game and settings data to the cloud so that your progress can be restored when you sign in on a supported device.

Cloud backup may include information such as:

  • game progress and currencies;
  • streak and focus totals;
  • pet information and selected skin;
  • owned skins;
  • inventory;
  • backyard/decorations;
  • focus settings;
  • allowed and blocked application identifiers;
  • allowed and blocked website domains.

Focus Pet accounts currently use a single-active-device model. You may use your account on different devices over time, but only one device may hold the active authenticated Focus Pet session at a time.

A persistent installation identifier may be used to identify the Focus Pet installation participating in this account-session system.

Cloud backup is optional. If you do not create an account, you can continue using Focus Pet in guest mode without cloud backup.

Focus Pro and Payments

Focus Pet offers optional paid Focus Pro plans.

Payments and subscription billing are handled through Stripe.

When you choose to purchase Focus Pro, Focus Pet may open Stripe Checkout in your web browser. Subscription management, payment-method management, and billing information may also be handled through Stripe's Customer Portal.

Stripe is responsible for processing payment information and managing billing events such as purchases, subscriptions, renewals, cancellations, and payment failures.

Focus Pet uses verified billing information from Stripe to determine whether an account has Focus Pro access. Focus Pet's cloud services store the resulting entitlement and subscription status needed to provide Focus Pro features, and the desktop application may keep a local cached copy so entitlement information can remain available offline.

Focus Pet does not need to directly store your full payment-card details in its own application database.

Third-Party Services

Focus Pet currently uses third-party service providers including:

Supabase

Supabase is used for features including:

  • account authentication;
  • cloud backup and restore;
  • account/session coordination;
  • Focus Pro entitlement information;
  • server-side functions that support Focus Pro billing workflows.

Stripe

Stripe is used for:

  • Focus Pro Checkout;
  • recurring subscription billing;
  • one-time Focus Pro purchases where offered;
  • payment processing;
  • subscription status;
  • payment-method management;
  • billing and subscription management through Stripe's Customer Portal.

These providers may process information according to their own privacy policies and terms.

Information We Do Not Intend to Collect

Focus Pet is not designed to collect or store:

  • the contents of your documents or files;
  • webpage contents;
  • full browsing history;
  • full browsing URLs as focus-rule history;
  • passwords entered into other applications or websites;
  • private messages;
  • keystrokes;
  • screenshots;
  • screen recordings.

Operating-system permissions used for focus detection are used to provide Focus Pet's focus functionality and are not intended for general surveillance of your computer activity.

Data Retention

We retain account and cloud data for as long as reasonably necessary to provide the Focus Pet services you use, comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, enforce agreements, and maintain service security.

Local data may remain on a device until it is removed through Focus Pet, the application's available account/data controls, or removal of the application's local data.

Some information processed by third-party providers such as Stripe or Supabase may also be retained according to their applicable legal obligations, retention practices, and privacy policies.

Your Choices and Rights

Depending on where you live, you may have rights regarding your personal information, including the right to:

  • request access to personal information associated with your account;
  • request correction of inaccurate personal information;
  • request deletion of eligible account information;
  • withdraw consent where processing is based on consent;
  • exercise other privacy rights available under applicable law.

You may also choose to use Focus Pet without creating an account, in which case cloud backup and account-based features are not used.

Security

We use reasonable technical and organizational measures intended to protect information from unauthorized access, alteration, disclosure, or destruction.

Focus Pet's architecture is designed to keep sensitive desktop activity processing limited to what is necessary for focus functionality, and cloud account access is subject to authentication and access controls.

However, no method of electronic storage or transmission over the internet can be guaranteed to be completely secure.

Children's Privacy

Focus Pet is not intended to knowingly collect personal information from children in violation of applicable law.

If you believe a child has provided personal information to Focus Pet in circumstances where it should not have been collected, contact us at help@tryfocuspet.com.

Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy as Focus Pet changes.

When we make changes, we will update the Last updated date at the top of this page. If a change materially affects how personal information is handled, we may provide additional notice where appropriate.
